Draft for The Unit File v1. Not reviewed by a lawyer. We will replace this before a public launch.
Site guidelines
The Unit File is for people checking an Indianapolis apartment before they sign. File a report on the complex. You do not need a unit number.
Do
- Review a place you actually lived, or a tour you actually took.
- Say the floor plan (studio, 1 bed 1 bath, 2 bed 2 bath, etc.).
- Stick to what you experienced: parking, leasing office, maintenance, noise, safety, amenities, balcony vs Juliet, fees, would you rent again.
- Be specific. “Leasing office took 11 days to answer” beats “they suck.”
Don’t
- Fake reviews, duplicate reviews, or reviews written for money, discounts, or a landlord.
- Harassment, hate, threats, or posting someone else’s private info (phone, email, unit number used to target a person, photos of neighbors).
- Review a competing property in someone else’s listing. Rate that complex on its own page.
- Paste listing copy, copyrighted photos you don’t have rights to, or legal threats.
How ratings work
Ratings are unverified renter reports. They are not a credit report, not an inspection, and not legal advice. Landlords and management companies cannot pay us to remove, bury, or boost ratings. We may remove content that breaks these rules, is spam, or is illegal.
